Express Entry for French Speakers

Canada's commitment to bilingualism has created significant immigration advantages for French-speaking candidates. Dedicated Francophone Express Entry draws, bonus CRS points, and LMIA-exempt work permits make French proficiency one of the most valuable assets in Canadian immigration.

Francophone Express Entry Draws Since 2023, IRCC has conducted regular category-based draws specifically for French-speaking candidates. These draws typically have CRS cutoffs 30-80 points lower than general draws, making them accessible to a wider range of applicants.

CRS Points for French French language proficiency through TEF or TCF can add substantial CRS points. A strong French score (CLB 7+) with basic English skills can add up to 50 additional points. Bilingual candidates (strong French AND English) receive even more bonus points.

Mobilité Francophone This LMIA-exempt work permit stream allows Canadian employers outside Quebec to hire French-speaking foreign workers without the lengthy LMIA process. It's an excellent pathway for Francophone professionals to gain Canadian work experience quickly.

Quebec Pathways Quebec has its own immigration system with the Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP) and Programme de l'expérience québécoise (PEQ). Both strongly favor French speakers and operate independently of the federal Express Entry system.

Countries That Benefit Most Applicants from Francophone nations — including Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Senegal, Cameroon, France, Haiti, and the Democratic Republic of Congo — are particularly well-positioned to take advantage of these French-language immigration pathways.
